Compensation Claims Against Ryanair – New Ruling August 2015

Have you or someone you know been a Ryanair passenger in the last 6 years? Have you been ‘bumped off’ or has your flights been delayed? If so, you may be entitled to compensation and should read on about a recent change in the law.

Ryanair’s contract of carriage states that passengers can only bring a claim against Ryanair within 2 years of a delayed flight.

In a recent case, a judge has decided that passengers were allowed to bring a claim for compensation against Ryanair up to 6 years from the date of the delayed flight.

Due to EU legislation, passengers that are ‘bumped off’ flights or whose flights are delayed by more than 3 hours are entitled to compensation of up to €600.00 (c. £435.00) per passenger.

Because of this recent ruling, passengers who believed that they only had 2 years to make a claim and missed out on their chance to claim compensation, still have the chance to bring a claim, so long as the delayed flight was within 6 years.

It is reported that approximately 2.6 million Ryanair passengers could be affected by this recent court ruling and could now bring a claim.
